Mingsha (Buzzing Sands) Hill in Dunhuang As an oasis in the immense gobi, Dunhuang was a pivotal point of interchange on the Silk Road during the Han and Tang dynasties. Mingsha Hill is about 5 kilometers to the south of Dunhuang City. The sands will buzz while tourists slide down a slope, hence the name.
Miao girls The Miao people form one of the largest ethnic minorities in southwest China. They are mainly distributed across Guizhou, Yunnan, Hunan and Sichuan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Most of them live in tightly-knit communities, with a few living in areas inhabited by several other ethnic groups.
Jiuzhaigou Valley a nature reserve in the north of Sichuan, a province in south western China. It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. It is said that if there should be wonderlands on the earth, Jiuzhaigou Valley must be one of them.
Impression Lijiang Jokul a magnificant outdoor production held on a huge man-made stage at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, near Lijiang city in Yunnan province. About 500 amateur performers from 10 ethnic minority groups selected from some 16 towns and villages take part in the US$31 million production.
Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses The terracotta figures, dating from 210 BC, were discovered in 1974 by some local farmers near Xi'an, Shaanxi province, China near the Mausouleum of the First Qin Emperor. The figures include warriors, chariots, horses, officials, acrobats, strongmen, and musicians.
